Aasif Hakim Mandviwala, known by his stage name Aasif Mandvi, is a British American-American actor and comedian. He began appearing as an Occasional Journalist for the Daily Show on August 9, 2006. On March 12, 2007, he was promoted to the rank of Regular Journalist. He is the lead actor, co-writer and producer of web series Halal in the Family, which aired on Funny or Die in 2015, and is an actor, writer and co-producer of the comedy series The Brink of HBO. Mandvi is also the author of the book No Land's Man. In June 2019, he received an honorary doctorate in human correspondence from Macaulay Honors College after giving a keynote speech that year. He is currently appearing as Ben Shakir in the CBS psychological drama `` Evil '' written and created by Robert and Michelle King.
